There was a ‘recreate album art with clipart and Comic Sans’ meme going around a while ago. Somewhere along the line it morphed into recreating video game box art.

Enjoy these two dumb things I made and put on GAF.

I do declare! It’s another Kari Fry shirt! I’m normally not a fan of humongous prints, but how else to you fit 151 freaking Pokémon on a shirt? Got the blue version because that was my first copy of the game.

KACHO ON!
Finding Game Center CX apparel on ebay is damn near impossible (but I would totally pay for a real GCCX shirt if the opportunity arose, hint hint).
I took some screencaps of The King and the logo and went over them in Flash, then took the pictures onto Spreadshirt and 7-14 days later, I had me a Game Center shirt.

Fucking FINALLY.

There’s a whole slew of reasons I could say I bought this shirt: proceeds went to charity, I’m a fan of speed runs, etc.
But mostly, I got it because Earl is on it. And I fucking love ToeJam and Earl.
Fangamer’s got a reprint of this shirt in a color scheme that’s more up my alley, but whatever. Hard to complain when you’re getting a neat shirt and doing good at the same time.

mapstalgia:

Pokemon Red/Blue, Cerulean City, by dekeldoh.
I was stuck in this city for the longest time, completely oblivious to the fact you could go through the robbed guy’s house and onto the next route to grind.

Boy, was there nerd rage when this was on Teefury. The complaints that it should be a Super Nintendo and Genesis or NES and Master System are totally legit, but as someone who grew up with a NES while my friend had a Genesis, this shirt totally works for me.

Got this for Christmas earlier today. The Mega64 folks make great videos and I love their sense of humor. I’ve wanted a Mega64 shirt for a while but none of their other designs ever clicked with me, until they put out this limited edition variant of their Brain Fog shirt. My shirt collection is seriously lacking in green and purple.

Borderlands is easily one of my favorite games of 2009, which means a lot coming from someone who doesn’t really enjoy first person shooters. Around time of release, Gearbox Software (located a few minutes away in Plano) announced they were holding a release party open to the public at the Granada Theater in Dallas. Mix Master Mike was there, and there were playable demos, and each attendee got a free shirt and mousepad. I really do regret not staying too long, but whatever. Here’s hoping they do the same thing for Borderlands 2.

First shirt up is from my Favorite Video Game Website That Isn’t GAF, Giant Bomb. Luchadeer has been a fixture of their site since the beginning, so when Giant Bomb announced a limited run of Luchadeer tees I jumped on one immediately.
The best thing about the shirt is that it doesn’t scream “I’m fucking crazy about video games”. It’s cool to be subtle once in a while.
